How to properly position your camera on a SpiderPro single or dual cam system. Properly positioning your camera(s) in the Holster is extremely important to achieve maximum comfort and minimal wear-and-tear on your Spider system. This PDF shows the proper camera positions in many common configurations.
This is a life and back saver! Not only is my camera out of the way, I don't have to worry about it pulling on my neck and upper back. I use the Spider Camera Holster in conjunction with the SpiderPro Handstrap, My only issuse (a minor one) is that I felt the belt needed belt keepers. Belt Keepers are used to strap the outer belt to a pants belt, highly beneficial to those of a particular body type. I have belt keepers and added those to my set up for added security. I shoot with a D850 with the vertical grip and the EN-EL-18 batteries which is a pretty heavy camera especially when you add the 70-200mm f2.8 lens into the mix. The belt and the holster are very sturdy and adjustable, in order to keep this kind of weight from pulling the belt down without making it too tight I added two belt keepers to strap it to my pants belt. This makes me breathe a little easier, you may not need belt keepers. I have been using a BR strap with the D-ring but the strap allows the camera to bang into my leg, leaving a bruise on heavy walking days. The spider holster securely holds the camera in place and gives you freedom from the traditional camera strap, alleviating all that weight on your neck and back!!
not sure yet
The Spider Pro plate gets in the way of battery/SD card opening on my Nikon Df, so I then purchased Spider Light plate. The small adjustable plate allows me to open both the leather half-case opening and the battery/SD card door (one covers the other), but the camera then hangs lens down when holstered, and therefore isn't as secure. I also wish the mounting screw was longer on both the Pro and Light models, as I'd prefer not to remove the leather half-case.
Pro Single Camera System Review
I’ve recently purchased subject carrying system and upon opening found it to be of excellent quality. The two position security lock holding the camera (Canon 5D Mk II.) is very sturdy and feels very secure. I like the fact that the lock has two positions to insure inadvertent release of the camera is minimized. I have not taken the system to the field yet but anticipate it will work well under most conditions. I like this system because I can eliminate the camera strap which places most to the camera and lens weight on the photographer’s neck. After seeing the product I intend to purchase the Spider lens plate for use with my telephoto lens.
i absolutely love this. easy to adjust, and more comfortable than a strap around the neck. Also got the hand strap from Spider. perfect for taking pics on the go.
I love the fact of caring my camera on my hip and being very secured
• Accommodates waist sizes 27″-50″ (extensions are available)
• Belt buckle has 3 point release for extra security.
• Unique Self-Locking Design allows safe carry with ease of use.
•Quick-Draw one handed operation!
• Pro₂ Plate has built-in threaded holes that fit any tripod plate.
• Rugged construction can safely carry and operate your heavier DSLR camera and gear.
So how does it work?
It’s actually very simple: Size the Belt to your waist size with the sliding waist pad, (our Pro Belt accommodates waist sizes from 27–50 inches), attach the Pro₂ Plate to your camera’s tripod mount with the built in allen wrench (we provide extra tripod mount points so you can still keep your quick-release plate attached.) After everything is attached, slide your camera into the holster!
The lens should always be facing directly back when holstered, this allows our self-locking design to balance your camera, and protects your camera lens from being bumped while kneeling or setting up shots.
Spider Pin – Designed for optimum security, it is made out of stainless steel for corrosion resistance and strength. The design does not allow the pin to ever come loose, so your gear is always safe at your side. While we don’t recommend swapping the pin that is pre-installed on the right side, you can purchase an additional Anti-Twist Pin to install on the left side if needed!
Built in Tool – The Pro₂ Plate has a built in allen wrench with spring loaded release!
Anti-Rotation Stops – The “Camera Bumps” on the front of the Pro₂ Plate hug the front of your DSLR camera and prevent it from rotating when installed!
Rubber grips – Provides slip resistance and improves the connection to your camera body.
Tether/Strap Connection (optional) – Compatible with the Spider Web Tether and most third-party sling style straps. This allows the use of any quick-connect/carabiner style strap without interfering with the Pro₂ Plate’s tripod connections.
Spider Pro Holster Features
The Spider Pro Holster features a self-locking design. The geometry of the holster and plate prevents the camera from moving up and out of the holster accidentally.
Simply rotate camera upward for a fast release. This feature feels natural to the user, while providing an extra layer of security for your camera, even when the lock is not engaged!
