Vincent Duke: How Spider Holster Keeps Us Capturing Memories

Vincent Duke: How Spider Holster Keeps Us Capturing Memories - Spider Camera Holster

As wedding and event photographers we’re pretty much in a position of constant uncertainty. We have a general idea of what is supposed to happen but at any moment it can all fall apart or the unexpected happens.

Wedding photographers are used to being dual camera slinging cowboys (or cowgirls) having to adapt to every situation. But the ability to adapt comes at a price, which typically is in the form of weight. Let’s face it - two DSLR’s with a. 24-70 and a 70-200 is not light, even with a minimum setup of a 35mm and 85mm. This weight brings fatigue, pain, and limits to not only our range of motion but to the shots we’re able to capture. Accepting that the pains, fatigue, and mobility limitations just come with the territory of being a wedding photographer, we set out to find the best system we could. I won't name brands here but we tried just about every dual strap system under the sun - all of which after a 8-12 hour day lead us to the same feeling of fatigue and pain. This is when we introduced Spider Holster into our workflow and let me just say it was a GAME CHANGER! This unconventional new way to carry our gear did more than just take away the fatigue and aches, it literally gave us full range of motion to get any shot we wanted! No more cameras on a short leash.

Fast forward to today with many weddings and events with the Spider System now under (or should I say on) our belt. All of our expensive strap systems lay in a bag tucked away never to be seen except to show the tangled mess at our workshops when talking about the Spider System.  The shift of the weight from our shoulders to our hips leaves us with tremendous amounts of endurance to get through even the longest of days.

At the end of the day, it’s all about getting the shot, making the client happy, and knowing you did your best. For us the Spider Holster is a vital piece of the puzzle that helps keeps us at the top of our game.
